While they definitely need to shoulder their share of the blame.....
I have to laugh when I hear the standard "the unions ruined the big three"
Not that poor management decisions had anything to do with it.......

Want to talk about bloated leaches?
Look at the CEO v.s. worker wage gap. And its not just the CEO's, its all of the top management.
This article is old (2007) but I doubt much has changed.
Pay comparisons almost always leave someone feeling dwarfed, and none more so than the CEO-to-worker pay gap. But even CEOs have reason to feel seriously dwarfed these days, thanks to the outsized paychecks of private equity and hedge fund managers.

If top management is worth so much money, why are their businesses failing.
And how is getting rewarded with millions if terminated an incentive to give a damn if your business lives or fails? I thought the whole point of the fear of being fired was because you failed and received nothing.

That pretty much sums it up. The purpose of unions have long passed. They're nothing but bloated leeches weighing down U.S. industry, education and everything else they have their tentacles in.

    car sales for august

    new car sales
DETROIT (AP) -- Auto sales, once a bright spot in the economic recovery, grew fainter last month.

The pain was widespread. Big car companies General Motors, Ford and Toyota all saw sales slip. Smaller automakers like Subaru suffered too, as did companies that appeal to the budget minded, such as Kia and Hyundai.

Buyers are nervous about the economy's health and stayed away from showrooms, a worrisome sign since August is typically a strong month. Total industry sales could fall below 1 million new vehicles once automakers finish reporting sales on Wednesday, making it the worst August in 27 years
