Around here there is a grade called "3/4 minus". Which is 3/4" and smaller stuff.. Not to be confused with just 3/4..
It packs well! If you compact it, you will be surprised how nice and smooth it can get.. We did a section of our barn that way..
When we graveled the garage, we didn't compact it.. It makes a heck of a difference.. Yes do spray it to help it settle..
