True Cost of a project truck

For the first time ever I kept track of all the costs on a project......because its not mine!

I even included some of the mistakes....but I also left off a couple of freebee's I had laying around (carb, water temp gauge...)
Its still quite scary. This was just to get it "straight", everything works, safe to drive and minimum of fun stuff.

This also included two and a half months of nothing but working on this thing ever spare moment I had.
I'm not complaining! I love the truck and my friends that felt confident enough to spend their money how I felt fit to make this thing right.

thats good not you didn't get into the stuff that cost,, paint, engine rebuild or driveline..
did you have to replace the carrier bearing for the 2 piece drive shaft, mines junk..
so far mine looks like this
dash and gauge panel parts 500.oo
454 4200.oo
headers,ass brackets,mounts,stands,fuel system,ign. 2000.oo
cost of truck 3000.oo
take out the 454 and they are cheap to rebuild a old truck..

I had 30 large and 15 years in my last project car ..including the cost of 2 totally different big blocks
and I did all the work myself

that list is easily a nickel and dimer.
say one budgets for infinite and 100 amonth, or week or whatever...

3, 4, 10 years goes by...

that 3900 over just 6 months is still cheaper than the new car games.

I recenty did this too.. started documenting in october of 2006. I still have the project, now sept 2010.
not american, not even gonna mention it here...
the pint was to document to REALLY compare the ninny ass complainers of "old" to people who rebuild beyond oem.

I won even if i lost right now.

at 2800, it is 4 years later. The sale price is now 3500 and realistically climbing...
hmmm.
no saleman has sunk their teeth into me yet. waiting for reality... mine is always here. it is soemone elses I seem to be waiting for.

good stuff... keeping recipts , diary/build log, little thoughts and even emotional ones. it is a human attached to the machine.
