Yup, mining is boom and bust, and we are a boom'in! Closed in '99 and re-openned in '04 and I started working here in '05.
    Escaped on a technicality.

I'll say. Copper was $1.40 in June 09 and lately it's been hanging around $3.25.

Is that six percent or point six percent ?
If it's point six you have to massage a ton of material to get 12 pounds. Wow.

That's point six. And even then that is greatly exaggerated. Of the ~240,000 tons of dirt moved a day, only about ~50,000 tons of it has and average .6 copper, the remainder 190,000 tons moved has nada (well below cut off grade anyways). Yup, so 12 pounds per ton, so each 280 ton load of Ore has 3360 pounds of copper in it, which must also pay for the four trucks that aren't carrying any copper and all our support equipment and people :'( I'm often amazed we make any money at all, but it's all due to scale and the shear volume of rock we move.

Brings new meaning to - "make it up in volume" - and "rock-on" -
