G bodys never got 9 bolt rear ends???

9 bolts only came in F cars correct? a guy on craigs list is claimimg to
have a nine bolt in a 86 regal :-\. he said it came from another G body but
I didnt think these were even made until 89? 90? and only in camaros.
for someone to put one in a g body would be a mess because they wouldnt
have the upper control arms mounts for the upper control arms in a G body?
I might go look at this just to see what it is, probly a 7.5 10 bolt with a bolt broken off!!

No 9 bolt rears were ever installed from the factory in a G-body. Just the 7.5/8.5 10 bolts, then a Dana of some sort in the Mexican 84 SS, but that's another story.

it's not hard to get one and weld on brackets..
the cars are 20+ years old..

ya ya I know I cant spell.... :-\ :D anyway, this car had the most uncool
rear end a hiway geared 7.5 (he miscounted the bolts yep, there were ten) with welded spider gears.
the guy said "its still a posi it spins both wheels" I had my hopes up for something cool, oh well
you get what you pay for

Wasnt there something called an Australian 9 bolt? Also called a "rubber plug rear" I remeber my friend had something like that in a Camaro .Maybe thats what it is with spring perches welded on for the coils.

Could be a Currie or some one else Ford 9 inch modified for GM cars. Not unlikely. GM also used the Dana 44 in Australian cars and probably Mexican too.

an awe inspiring 2.14 was the tallest...like WTF???????


ever think 8.8 Furd??closest thing to a 12 bolt..trust me..take both apart and compare.like TC says,been there ,done that.

Ive thought about a 8.8 ford befor, i have a nine inch
housing, axels, and brakes but no gears or short yoke
to run my drive shaft. Ive had alot of medical bills lately
and was looking to score something to sell. I havent sold
any parts for a while :-\ :D it will get better!

BTW I have a 2.29 geared 7.5 10 bolt in the pile out back
