Pictures will not load in my profile.

Anyone out there as confussed as I am regarding posting a picture with your profile? For some reason my profile EDIT page does not allow me to post a picture. When I open up my Forum Profile Information page, the area that allows you to add a picture has a RED X. When I click on the 3rd option to: "I will upload my own picture:" i click and add my picture. Then I hit change profile. Here is the message that comes up next:
The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved. ....... SO what gives...what have I: a) not done, or b) done but shuld not have done?

UPLOAD THE PIC TO PHOTOBUCKET OR IMAGESHACK THEN LINK it ..
avatars, most times need to be only so big, no idea if there is a limit here

128 x 128 pixels. It can be bigger, but if it's not square then the board will squash it to fit

there is a thing to do it but ive never had it work. so i just upload a pic to photobucket.com and post the url into the appropriate box

Please see the sticky thread titled "Photo Posting & Avatar's Made Easy" at the top of this board, it should guide you through the process, to successfully load pictures.

Not yet, but photo hosting is one of the new features with the upcoming software upgrade.

128 x 128 pixels. It can be bigger, but if it's not square then the board will squash it to fit

upload it to photobucket - go to resize - preset sizes - select small - and save a copy

then over to the links - I think it's the second one down for avatars - (second one from the bottom for posting pics)
but if not try them all until it works....

But make sure to crop it to a square shape too. Or else it'll look funky, like that tailgate in Phil's avatar that's too tall for how wide it is

Mine is a squeezed in rectangle, but I decided it still looked decent enough.
