However, if that comment came my way, I still think I'd respond less than friendly. The poor fan and his girlfriend who were offering friendship and support with a visit to his pits, most likely walked away devastated by their then hero.
Still, I hope that story is crap.

I believe it. As I said earlier, my buddy is was pretty close with Al. One time, at the Gator's, we were standing there with Al as he signed autographs, and talking to him when he wasn't. Anyway, if you heard some of the stupid things people said to him, you'd understand how a guy with his personality would build up an intolerance for these situations. He was never afraid to speak his mind or hurt people's feelings... that was part of his charm, if you will.

I could tell you a story of when he personally insulted me, but I don't really think it's appropriate at this time.
