Here in OK, when you transfer title to your name, you pay sales tax, depending on town and county, usually 8.5%. Then there's a transfer fee, insurance fee and then the tags if they're due, tags stay on here. If the car is from a family member, you don't pay taxes on it and the older it is, the less the tag costs. My wife's '99 van was 83.00 a year to tag but drops to around 50.00 which is what my '96 pickup is. The '55 is about 23.00 a year for standard tags plus 75.00 for collector tags if you want them. When I bought the '55, it was nearly show condition with boxes of show trophies and awards. I gave 20,000 for it, but the owner wanted it kept under the table how much, why I don't know. ;) He gave me a bill of sale for 2,000. ;D
