  • Paint help

So I'm trying to get the Vega ready for paint end of next month and I've changed my mind on the colour. Going back to my original choice which I believe is LeMans Blue found on first gen Camaro's and same year Corvette's
This is the colour I'm talking about

    So here's my question,
First, am I correct in calling this LeMans Blue?
Second, does anyone know the paint code for this? Or where I can find it?

GM had different names for the same color.

For '68 Camaro's the paint code for LeMans Blue was UU. For '69, it was 71.

      Re: Paint help

that's where it gets confusing, clicking on samples with different names and seeing the same colour > not to mention seeing the same colour in a different light looks totally different. I think if I can get an actual sample of the colour then I'll be alright

Go talk to your local PPG rep....they will have all the info you need.....with samples.

If you were close by I'd let you look at my ancient PPG color book. But as Seth said your local PPG dealer should have a similar book (assuming they've been in business for a while).

Don't rely on internet samples .... whatever brand you'll be spraying should be able to figure out the old codes.

but you can look up the paint book pages here

Huge supplier of Automotive Paint, Auto Body Supplies, Airbrush Equipment, Car Detailing Supplies, Pinstripe Paint, Spray Guns & Safety Respirators at Wholesale Prices. Our items are factory direct and we carry a wide variety of Top Quality Brands.

select make and year, then you'll see the page from the paint book

Pretty sure the one you want is LE MANS BLUE POLY

my brother's 69 vette was that color, it's lighter than the paint chip shows though. Poly is their way of saying metallic.

                    Re: Paint help

Paint colors also change because of the type of paints used. Polys, enamels, acrylics all look a little different in the same color. Good luck.

BTW, I like your color choice. LeMans Blue is one of my fav GM colors.
