  • A post from Curtis Boggs (RFD Heads) on the Bullet

Words of Wisdom from Curtis Boggs the guy who does the Heads for my Car and a close personal friend. I think they also apply to Life.

I've had the privilege of working on some very serious projects with some
of the worlds best engineers and engine builders.

The common thread amongst them was the acceptance of
    failure.

The ability to fail without being belittled or "beaten" for it,
gives the freedom to really push the limits and make gains in the process.

The other thing to remember is, .. there's is a TON more information
to be gained from failures then success, I think.

We always seem to look much closer at things that don't work, ..
but those things, also seem to allow the engine to "speak" louder.

Reminds me of some guys I used to work with - both put in time on crews for indy and nhra.

Generally - as in sports (Pete Rose strike outs vs. hits) failure goes along with experience, and those that know - have learned through failure, generally more than once. (Henry Ford went broke a few times before FoMoCo came about)

Unfortunately - for most of us - failure is expensive, and we have limited budgets.
There's always something new to learn.

                  Failure = experience

when you have enough experience = wisdom

                  I aspire to wisdom.
                  ---------------------------------

The cheapest path to wisdom is to learn from others' failure.

Books are cheap, they are a way to gain rudimentary knowledge, but they aren't a substitute for hands on gained knowledge. They may, however, narrow your range of failure.

                  ---------------------------
I'd like to think I've cured my aversion to failure, but I haven't. Its still tough for me to deal with electronic systems.

                  Great thread.
