  • A question about Chad's Dad's 68 Camaro in HR

I'm confused. The caption reads it still has OG paint, BUT then says it's lettering from it's glory yrs has been replicated for the 2010 something or another. Was the OG lettering carefully removed from the OG paint some time in the past.....to be re-lettered recently......all on the now still existing OG paint? Or'd I read it wrong?

Grouch, I'll bug Chad to respond, but the new "lettering" is all magnetic stuff.

It may be the original base paint though.

If Chad's not too hammered from his brithday, I'm sure he will respond.

Walt Reynolds has some awesome pics of the cars history. One may explain why Chad is Chad.

I'll bet on "original color" not paint

According to the article ksj1 posted, Mr. Reynolds states it has original paint and interior other than carpet.

he just took the lettering off the original paint many years ago and this year he vinyl lettered like it was back in the Day....

So Taz.... you'd be wrong yet again...

the Paint is factory... cept the roof stripes and maybe the Hood as I recall...

so the older photos with no lettering and no faded paint around the unfaded paint(where the letters would've been) back in the day..
guess his car never saw the cali sun

no hair line cracking either that that era paint is noted for from shrinking

How, without leaving lots of witness marks?

you can't the paint under the letters are not faded and everything around it is, and is why a painter matches the car with paint from the jams or underside of the trunk and not the sun baked outer panels

25k miles, half of them on the strip, I guess not....

There's a guy in town with a 66 SS396 chevelle he bought new, has about 16k miles on it, same deal as far as not driving it except at the strip. Although this one was repainted in the early 80s, spent a little time on the ISCA circuit. It's still gorgeous.
