  • Gas Prices...

    Short and sweet...
We pay around 1.50 Euro for a Liter of (98RON) unleaded fuel here in the Netherlands.
That's about $2.2 per Liter, or $8.32 per gallon... :o

Now insert your GasPrice-complaining below please... ;D

Having been all over Europe, you'll hear no complaints from me! ;) As a matter of fact, I've even been to The Neterlands!

Not to be mean or anything, but
1: Just because you pay high prices doesn't make it all right for us to.
2: you are comparing apples to oranges when it come to our economies, you are just literly miles from all the oil, we are days, yet you pay more?
3: There is no oil shortage or The unted states goverment would horde it all up and no US citizen would get a pint of it.
When its really running out we will really know it, but $3.00 a gallon is no indication of it, we are just a part of economics and millionaires doing what they do best= getting richer while we get poorer!
4: If gas was $8 a gallon over here that would be the end of us, some people drive 1.5 hours 1 way to work a day and the numbers would not add up.
One way or the other you all over there have something we don't, over here we drive 50ft to the corner market for a candy bar and eat it before we get home, I would say you all walk or take buses or something different than we do?

        Re: Gas Prices...

It's true it's not a fair comparison ofcourse. Especially since I based the price-difference on the current currency-rate. The Euro is at an all time high value these days compared to the Dollar.
Also true the commuter-distances aren't far as in the US. It's no secret all around the world the costs of fuel are rising and the 'only' ones getting better of that are the governments with their taxes and the oilcompanies themselves. In my country the gasprice at the pump is taxed with 62%, and an additional 19% VAT (BTW).

          Re: Gas Prices...

We consistently have the highest gas prices in Texas, all due to a certain local dominant convenience store / fuel distribution company.

Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

"don't get me started ;)" - - - yesterday, I made a beer run (7 miles) and when I went thru town (Buffalo, Texas) the prices were $2.70 on top of the hill and $2.68 at the independent Shell down the hill - - - so being the frugal oldphart that I am, I decided that when I came back thru I would fill up - - - 14 miles later it had gone up to $2.95 on top of the hill and there was "no room in the Inn" at the Shell, meaning there was no place to pull in, short of stopping in the right lane of the four lane and waiting - - - I still had half a tank so I was content to just b'tch all the way home :'(

About '78 I was filling up my Studebaker and a customer next to me said,"If gas goes to $1.00 a gallon,I'll quit buying it".I thought he was a fool.Your gonna pay whatever the price is.I remember George C.Scott in his public service announcements saying "We will be out of oil by the year 2000".Complain all you want, your still hooked on it.

                    Yea were hooked on it.
We don't live in huts or eat our dogs. Being supplied affordable gasoline should be a constitutional right!
Without affordable gas its going to cause a "trickle down affect" and people aren't going to drive as much or buy stuff that depends on gas to bring the customer to it for purchase.

Since were on the subject, if were going to run out of gas, then why don't the goverment make car makers stop making gas guzzeler SUVs and Hummers?
I know people say if you can afford one then you can afford gas for it.
yes, but thats not helping us from running out of gas , if its such a threat and worry on everybodies mind.
When I see certain changes in America then I will know we are running of gas, otherwise its all a money game.
                    Were not running out.

Driving is a PRIVELEGE granted by the state you live in.When it becomes a constitutional RIGHT,then you MIGHT have a right to Fed.Gov.mandated prices. We won't run out of oil in my life time.
I hope that people who by Prius type vehicles realize that the gas they are "saving" is going into my Model A hot rod.To them I say Thank You...

I'm sorry, but I as a Red Blooded American 100% disagree with that fascist statement. We, as Americans, are granted by not only the Preamble but also the 9th and 10th Amendments the right to travel under the guise of Liberty and General Welfare. I take deep offense at the ideology of your post.

Look, I'm not a commie,or faciast, and don't want to get anyone here upset. The only ones who DEMAND rights any rights are illegal(as opposed to Legal) aliens, and I don't mean Martians.
If gas goes to $2.00 per gallon it's, free enterprise, and we WILL buy it.You and I both will not like it.If that's faciast, then were are both in the wrong country.I wish you no ill will.Let's all enjoy what we have and this GREAT site!
