I know what your thinking (Build it yourself)

But my father would like to drop in a small block crate in a 70' Monte Carlo we just picked up.

It has a 350/350 - 10 Bolt. We would really like to do something that bolts right in.

    Now the question:

    What motor? from who?

Best bang for the Buck is more important than just cheap!

My friend put a Goodwrench 290 HP 350 in his '86 Monte Carlo SS and liked it.I'm sure you could get a beefier smallblock elsewhere ,but for (I think) 1900 bucks he had a brand new engine.I've seen lots of CI and HP claims for some crazy cheap prices.Do your homework and shop around.Put it all together and drive the wheels off of it!

      Re: Crate Motors

      For $2800 you can have the 330 hp 350. That's $8.48/hp.

      For $1750 you can have the 290 hp 350. That's $6.03/hp.

      For $1500 you can have the 250 hp 350. That's $6.00/hp.

      For $12,500 you can have the 720 hp 572. That's a lot more. ;D

Best choice is the 290 hp, IMO. They run better than you would expect.
