  • We need one more co-pilot for the BangShift Road Tour Express Team

    Hey gang.

We have been asked to participate in the first Road Tour Express of 2011, and so BangShift is going to have it's own team! Who wants to be a part of it? It doesn't cost anything and you can win stuff. Please have something cool to drive, not just a Honda accord. LOL We need folks to sign up so we can decide on our team.

I'll be making the route, and it will be dependent on who shows interest in participating. The basics are that you will be participating in a relay where you drive your car between 50 and 100 miles to hand off "the package" to the next guy. Each person needs a Co-Pilot, although I MIGHT be able to Co-pilot with one of you idiots. The Road Tour Express is going to be happening January 24-27 and will end at the MPMC Media Conference in El Segundo California. I'll be at the conference Tuesday through Thursday, but might participate directly on Monday. We'll just have to see.

So, who is in? Again, you will only need to drive 50-100 miles from your house, hand off the package, and have a shit ton of fun along the way. It's just like the Red Ball Express that we do to pass a car across the country, but this time the package has all the fun electronic toys you could want to put up all your adventures on the web. Trust me, it is going to be a ball and I am going to make sure you get to check out cool stuff during your trip. Each leg of the trip will be completed by a team of two. You and a co-pilot. You are of course allowed to follow along on more legs if you would like as well. Oh, and there are big prizes by the way.

Put your name in the hat here, and I'll have more details shortly. If you live within 500 miles of LAX, you could be a part of the team. Sign up now.

Sounds interesting. I can't totally commit just yet. I need to get the award show schedule first.

This sounded interesting, but I could never get the links to work to find out more. What does each leg of the relay entail? Is it like a scavenger hunt or something?

So your saying we're going to relay a box across california, right?? What's in the box and can we look in the box??

I mean I don't want to haul some guy's contraband across california at 150 mph to end up with the grand prize of being Bubba's spooning partner....... ;)

I think Chad ought to be co-pilot for everyone. ;D

So is each event localized to an area of the country, like this one is only around LA, or can you set up a route anywhere as long as you follow the guidelines? Does that make any sense? ???

Re: Sign Up Here to be on BangShift's Road Tour Express Team!

Each one is held in a specific area of the country, because it has a specific ending spot.

As the team leader, I get to pick the team, choose the handoff spots, and some highlights to check out along the way. Trust me it will be fun.

Since this one ends in LA, I am thinking it will be easiest for southern california or arizona folks, but we'll see.

Also, you can hang out for more than one leg. If you want to make this into a small BangShift tour at the same time, we are all over it.

I'm working on the possible checkpoint/handoff spots now, but it will depend a little on who is participating so I can make it easy on everyone.

The "package" is a case that has an iPad, video camera, still camera, wifi, etc. It's all the stuff you need to document the journey and put it up for folks to follow and then you hand it off to the next pair of guys.

Each day there is a Challenge. There are prizes for each days challenge. It's all easy stuff though like getting your cars photo next to some landmark, or getting a photo of a military vehicle. It is meant to be easy, but fun, so that it encourages us to drive our hot rods and have fun with it.

If there's one around the Chicago area, I'd like to be involved, but it would be strictly co-pilot/backstage prep work. I don't think you want the BangShift flag flyin on the rustbucket.
