Ahhhhhh, one of my favorite morning beverages. Being retired, I usually start with one around 9:30am.
Phil has already suggested the Spicy Hot V8 that I use for my mixer, but then skip the tabasco sauce or it will really light you up !!!

I also agree with daved931's advice to always use good vodka with about a 3:1 ratio of tomato juice to vodka (I prefer 100 proof - LOL).

- 1 part Vodka of your choice,
- 1 dash of Celery salt (gives the flavor without the celery stick),
- a couple of twists of the black pepper mill,
- a dash of Worcestershire sauce,
- 1 Jalapeno stuffed olive (add a little of the juice too if you want),
- 3 parts Spicy Hot V8 juice and stir,

Enjoy !!

Hmmmm, it's 5:30 .... time to go make a Martini !!

Dad turned me onto Spicy V8,Celery salt and Vodka at 3:1.......

Regular V8 needs a shot of Worcestershire.

Dave - I was never much of a drinker and have never been "drunk" as in not aware of my circumstances. I had to quit because my pancreas signed off and alcohol is REALLY bad for diabetics (although you'll find those who do). My doc at the time gave me a choice - give it up or find a new doc. I gave it up.

Hope continued success for you. I had a friend who was a really heavy drinker and after he quit he wouldn't have an NA beer for MANY years as he just didn't want to chance reigniting the craving. Maybe 15 years into it he found he could have an NA without issue. I don't know what is common but just do what works for you.

Yesterday was 3 months for me. I can't imagine wanting to tease myself with a virgin version of something I used to drink. Perhaps in time? Perhaps not.

Being somewhat of an authority, I thought I would give you my two shots worth. Most all are outstanding suggestions, so . . . try them all ! A different one every week. Then work on perfecting your favorite one to meet your specific taste.

If that doesn't work, take two shots of top shelf vodka and call me in the morning.

I like White Monster's suggestion: "9:30 is the new five o'clock !" Guess that means his 5:30 is the new "Happy" Happy Hour ! I likes dat !

All those are good, but try a little horseradish in it. It taste real good.

Vodka 1 1/2 oz
tomato juice 3 oz
worcestrshire sauce splash
twist of lemmon
horseradish 1/4 tsp
stir or shake and add cilantro as garnish
