  • The W Motor Affliction

    I found 2 409 truck motors......complete.
One is just an hour from the house.....the other one
    about 5 hours.

Thinking about buying both....bring 'em back
tear 'em down, sort 'em out etc.

    Maybe part 'em out

So does anyone else buy parts....motors-trannys... just to have them
    around?

          heck ya!!!
spare engines, trans cores, rear ends, drive shafts, sheet metal,
frontend parts, all for cutlasses. mainly chevy engines

sold alot of olds cutlass parts last year, once I have enough I buy cars
that would be scrapped and part them, or re-sell them

extra stuff is good Thom ;D

Not me. No, never. So why did I have a 5.0 (sold it a while ago at a loss) and, at one time, 5 aluminum Buick and Olds motors? I do have 3 250" Chevy sixes and a bunch of extra heads and stuff, but they're for the Buzz Bomb so they're "sensible" to have. I say buy those '09s.

JW - Good to hear from you. Hope all is well.

Cool, JW. I got a new-to-me MAC Mini for Christmas so now I posting stupid threads MUCH more quickly.

But back to the 409s. Anyone else have any?

I want to but the wife put the kabosh on that. I want to collect weird stuff though, like a 4.0 supercharged Jag I6, Volvo 3.0 DOHC I6, and Merc 6.0 DOHC V12 to play with.

At one time I had 3 small blocks 2 305's and a 350 and a 4.3 you know I couldn"t get 100 bucks out of any of those perfectly running 305s people wanted them and expected me to give them to them. Ticked me off. Gave me great satisfaction when they asked me about them weeks later two tell them I scrapped them out. Tradeed the 4.3 for a complete 89 caprice with working air. Gave to my widowed mom. Now I just keep what me a one friend might use,the rest is clutter that I would end up junking later.

I try to limit my parts collection to what my current project may be.I have been collecting parts for my next engine build and currently have a short block inliner on the stand that I am saving for the forged rods
It's a Tri-Power Inline six [email protected] in the 1/8th

I have an itch to build a 409 for the Impala. 65 was the last year of the 409, or at least, the first part of 65. Too bad it was more the truck engine with a single 4bbl and 340 hp by then.
