  • SNOW in Wilmington!

North Carolina, that is. I'm incensed! I didn't move here for this - um - stuff. That's the Buzz Bomb sitting in snow (the shop is full of mezzanine so there's no room for him inside right now). It just ain't right. But it's supposed to change to rain this afternoon but we'll see what really happens.

I went beyond Samsonite to U-Haul - but still it followed me! I'm cursed. I think Keith may have a bit of White Death, too.

Them trusses are WAY overkill! And on 8' centers. Inspectors were worried about hurricanes. I expect they'd hold up OK in a lead storm.

                      Re: SNOW in Wilmington!

It's a pretty clean body. It lived most of it's life in Lumberton, NC which is a way inland so no salt spray. There's just a little rust on the bottom of the passenger door a just a touch on the bottom of the front fenders. Easy fix with a MIG. IF I can get the shop in shape and the fire damage fixed in time I hope to paint it this year. It has an old MAACO-type job on it and it's getting pretty shabby.

                            Re: SNOW in Wilmington!

I'm a transplanted Southerner and I'm VERY glad for the change. I get a chuckle out of watching the natives trying to deal with a touch of snow - schools and business close, people skid off the road, the roads get salted (they use salt-spiked ocean water) - it's just nuts. And it'll be gone by this evening.

                              Re: SNOW in Wilmington!

We have our share here as well, Oregon and Washington have a continuing problem with the refugees from California for a couple decades now and they really cannot drive in the snow (and when they look at trees they don't see "firewood"). So if they see so much as a cold-looking raindrop there is hell to pay and traffic goes from mall parking lot to parking lot.

of course, or weather soothesayers are contributing to the problem... example - today's forecast, Sunny with clouds coming tonight (this still posted on a weather website) and it is snowing right now.... so they sucker the folks outside who are used to weather forecasters who say "it will be sunny all day" and are more likely right - to forecasters who couldn't predict where their ass is with both hands and a mirror.
