  • Chili cook off

So, it is a slow week at work and me and another guy decided to do a chili cook off for lunch on Wed.

8 of us are making big pots of chili, and those that want to eat pay 5 bucks..all you can eat...
There is gonna be cornbread, cheese, hot sauce, crackers.

the money will be put in a pot and used for going away plaques for those that leave the shop (an Air Force tradition)

Have you ever made cornbread in a cast iron skillet?

        Yummmmm....

Great idea! It's cool to see the proceeds are going to a good cause.

Definitely NOT southern. We have "conebred". That's before the "pah".

90% of everything cooked in a skillet in this household is done with a C.I. one.

Should be a good time...Everyone is looking forward to it..I know I am

I do my corn bread in my cast iron skillet, I have a cast iron dutch oven that I use when I go camping for stew and chili...everything tastes better when it is made in cast iron.

I make a corn bread that is amazing...it has roasted green chili's, sour cream, cream corn...damn I cant wait...

                      Re: Chili cook off

We need to start a recipe thread and start swapping ideas. There seems to be a lot of cooks on here.
