    They've got an engine that GM made 8 trillion of and put in everything from vans, denalis, and fleet half tons. $650 is 6.0 money. These engines are not rare. A four bolt 010 is worth more then a 5.3.

    I'd hate to run into Jim at a swap meet. :P

      some areas junkyards know what they CAN get..
      I did get a line on a caddy 6.2 for 425.oo but after running the #. it was hot.

          Some people seem to live where the 5.3 in a junkyard is rare.

          Two years ago Rob Kinnan emailed me asking about finding a $400 5.3 LS engine like the Fairmont guys used - I called him on the phone, then conferenced in the LKQ salvage place in town, and they had them from $200 to $500 depending on mileage and whatever "cores" you got with them. Anternator, starter etc. $500 was loaded with everything to run the engine: harness, PCM, coils.

          I haven't called *lately*, maybe there was a mad rush on 5.3s after everyone found out how much boost they will handle?

          HX35 turbos used to be FREE from our local diesel shop. not anymore!

                    ya there are 5 within 50 miles of me, carver (2) rockland (1), sherly (1) bridgewater (1)
                    caver they are in a bodys,sherly it's in whats left of a 67 firebird, rockland it's out,bridgewater it's in the front frame of a f body..
