Had a friend arrive at Atlanta Dragway in shorts and get told he needed to go get a set of pants. He found a set of warm-up suit pants behind the front seat and put them on. These are very thin, and made from nylon, so they'd melt all over your legs if they were in a fire - but that was considered safe, and shorts weren't. Dumb rule, and a very easy one to forget about in Atlanta summers.
The first autocross I went to, I couldnt get a tech inspection. The tech guys thought my S-10 was a tow vehicle. I finally convinced them I was there to race and learned very quick I wasnt as prepared as I thought.
Seat belts out of date .... car was only running mid 13s and didn't require aftermarket belts. I was told by the tech guy that I could put the 40 year old OE belts in and it would pass tech, but not with the outdated aftermarket (out dated by 2 years)...... WTH?
Studs not long enough.
Too much rubber fuel line.
Fuel hard line in its stock location inside the frame rail.
Nuetral safety not connected.
Battery hold down too small.
No driveshaft loop.
The booster venturis were too small. I had to borrow a carb from a top running team so I knew it would pass. I went to the next race with my carb and this time it was good.
