Re: Think this would be an Ok tow rig?
Well the long bed would be great to carry tools and tires. The crew cab is good for bringing a bunch of friends or family. If the price is right and its in good shape, id do it.
If you decide not to, there are always other good ones out there.... just keep your eyes open

thats really not to bad .If the truck will also be a daily driver then the 318 is the way is go,360 are alot harder on gas than a 318. Its just not proportional like 305 vs 350 .I pulled my 24ft all steel open car trailer w /the wifes 200 hp 3.42 geared 4l60e .astro mini van (vortec 4.3 ) with a 4th gen on the back .I just didn't get in a hurry.

My friend pulled my skylark on a car hauler with a late model 318 Ram 1500. Took a while to get up some pretty steep grades but the truck handled it.
If it's a couple times per year or to a local track and back you'll be fine. If you're following a series or pulling cars across the state once a week... you need more truck than that.

Re: Think this would be an Ok tow rig?
My Dakota has the 318 (5.2) with the Magnum heads and it tows the Camaro and 1 car open trailer just fine, but it IS a lot lighter truck. My old D150 ('88 318 w/Torqueflite) did OK, too, but I had a lot shorter tow to the track than I have now. Maybe more motor would be better.
