I'm hosting three gatherings at my shop this winter. If any are in the No Virginia/W va/Maryland/Pennsylvania corner you are invited to join in. This is a no cost gathering featiring skilled people demonstrating areas of expertise.
The first gathering is next Sunday, Jan 30th and we'll have Don Beard (engine builder, world champion drag boat racer) explaining cam installation, degreeing, locating TDC, advance/retarding the cam, use of a degree wheel and any other ohv engine questions we can think of. In the afternoon Bill Anderson (restoration specialist) will do the valve train geometry of a flattie, demonstrating the special tools required and how to make valvetrain adjustments and any other things we can think of. Demonstrations will be done on a SBC and 21stud ford.
The 2nd gathering, tentavely scheduled the 2nd sunday in Feb will be all about working with metal. We'll go into basic metal stretching, shrinking, planishing use of a shot bag and basic hand tools; Tom Mancuso will demonstrate leading a joint; John Herold (PPG paint guy) will discuss prepping the surface for paint.
The 3rd gathering, tent sch for the 2nd sunday in March will have different work shops going on at the same time featuring: carb technology and rebuild; ignition systems; brake systems; lever shock rebuild; rear gear setup; TIG welding and different machine operation for those who are thinking about getting a lathe etc.
We are still looking for qualified folks to lead some of the 3rd gathering shops (esp brake and ignition) so if you can help out shoot me a email.
In brief, this is a no-cost oppertunity to break the cabin fever to get together with other rodders and have some fun while learning or teaching a thing or two.
