Let's say I once in my life I met a couple who were so opposite....
She's so warm and funny, I mean funny, laughing all the time, and outgoing and huggy and kissy, just a bundle of joy. And genuine. She's not faking it, that's her.
And he's quiet and stand-offish for the most part, quite a bit weird, really. He WILL initiate a conversation, but it's awkward. He'll come up and say, "So, how have you BEEN?" And he's got bugged out eyes like a squeezed Chihuahua, really too close, about a foot from your face, big eyes, demanding an immediate answer.
Right away, I figured this married couple would last a year, maybe two at the max. There's no way these two go together. It won't work. It can't. No way.
Come to find out, they've been married for over twenty years with a fine young man for a son who seems to be on the track to success.
That's one of the only times my gut instincts didn't work. What you see and think and assume is not always the way it is.
