  • Pinewood Derby success at last

    Today, on his last try ( he bridges to boy scouts next month) my son Michael finally placed 1st with the fastest car in the house, (although second fastest package his rt is a little slower than some) but won it all in the webelos division!!

        It's hard to concentrate on that great picture of your son with that chick from the OC gyrating off to the left! :o

        Great story though!

          5 years of working at it and my opinion was, the little wedge shaped cars were the fastest, but my son always got to pick what direction we headed in. since this was his last go, I pointed out what I saw as "failings" in our previous efforts (we did get a 3rd last year) and we bought a pre cut body this year, since I have no band saw, and then went to work on it. turned out pretty good and pretty fast. nice to see I can still learn new tricks for an old dog and he learned a lot, especially when we compared all the cars together last night while discussing the high and lowpoints of each ones construction and speed.

            what the heck..?.. is that thing loaded down wit knee oh dee um magnets..? or are those plasma arc generating anti-gravity booster cells?... looks like cheetin' to me.!

                    Nope.
                    The PWD has a maximum weight that a car can be, to compete legally.
                    If the body is cut down, then additional weight can be added to make up for it (where-ever you want).
