Drag Racing Legend Dies at 76
Drag racing world champion and record holder Herman Lewis dies from cancer.

PROSPERITY -- Herman Lewis, 76, of Prosperity, in Raleigh County, was a world renowned American Motor drag racer.
Lewis died at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday after battling cancer.
He was famous for racing his 1968 red, white and blue American Motors AMX.
Lewis reset the world record in his class 19 times and was also a world champion in drag racing.
Herman was inducted into the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame in 2008.
He was also well known for developing an aluminum block and head for the American Motors cars.
Funeral arrangements are set to be released in the coming days.
