Discovery Liftoff !!
February 24, 2011, 02:58 PM
Just watched the Space Shuttle Discovery liftoff from my front yard ... last time for this bird.
Excellent flight, into blue skies ... just beautiful.

I'm still watching it live online. Haven't watched one in a long time. Made my heart pound. Impressive stuff.

That's one of the things on my bucket list, watch a rocket liftoff in person. How far away are you Steve?
I'm probably wrong

About 60 miles away as the crow flies ... I can see it in the sky about 30-seconds after liftoff.
I never get tired of watching one head for outer space.
Gives me goose bumps and my eyes tear every time.
