Re: Car hauler or utility trailer?

x2 on the brakes. When I converted to dual torsion axles I also added brakes to BOTH axles. (I can order the stuff thru work and get it for cost, so I splurged ;D ) Way overkill, but my thinking was that the brakes would last twice as long since they would be working 1/2 as hard.

Wow. I've had 5 different vehicles tow this trailer with the new axles, and every one will stop FAR quicker with the trailer on it than without the trailer. That trailer is like throwing out an anchor when the brakes come on. Whoa Nellie!!

And I followed John's advice on the Prodigy controller......thanks again John for steering me there. That thing beats the heck out of the last controller I had, and I was happy with that one. The Prodigy is sheer bliss! (Is it wrong to be blissful about a brake controller?) :-\ :D

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Bliss driving while towing a trailer is priceless!

Surely worth the price compared to the pucker factor induced by having no brake controller - or a cheap pos.
There's always something new to learn.

I need to look into that blissful brake experience. My crappy $50 Hoppy Tractor Supply special doesn't always cut it. Luckily I tow with my Super Duty, which has a manual trans and good brakes, but it would be nice to have trailer brakes with some intelligence built in. I'm constantly playing with the control knob to get the balance between pushing the truck through intersections, and locking up the trailer on dry roads.
        Still plays with trucks....

mine is an 18ft beaver tail. my family was moving across country... rental truck was 1400 dollars, the trailer was 1550(10yrs ago) plus after we moved, i still had MY trailer. it has moved us across country 2 times, and my sister in laws family to the east coast.... and back again.

anyway, i built sideboards out of 4 x 8 sheet and 2x's works awesome...

i think the heavier trailer is a better investment....

I have had a utility for 7 years here are my observations.

If you frequently haul cars it sucks cause you have to climb out the doors
It is way more versatile than a car hauler if you use it for other stuff as I do 90 percent of the time
The extra-wide is great, mine is 102" across the fenders
It does flex, but I only notice it looking through the mirror when it is empty over rough RR tracks or the like. Never seen it flex when loaded.

Can't explain that, but I see what I see.

If you have room to park it an 18" tows better. If you ever happen to put a vehicle on it (scout) and then haul more shit there isn't much room at all

Also, guys, have one question non-related to this forum:

Is anyone interested in gambling? What do you think about Yukon Gold Casino? I found a good review here - https://bestcasinos-ca.com/reviews/y...old-casino.php.The main problem is that there are many different reviews for different casinos on the Internet. And I don't know who I can and can't believe. This is a difficult task for me. What is your opinion?
