I've got 3 items i regret. My brother was killed in 1990 and left behind a 1969 BSA - blue with the chrome tank. in running condition. He was single and we had talked about what should be done with our stuff if each of us ever passed away. But when his step sister bagged it up and ran off with it in the middle of the night... I stayed silent to preserve family peace. it was sold for a profit 3 weeks later i found out 5 yrs later... there was also a 1949 chevy truck with a flat bed that was sold for profit a week after his passing, where no family member was consulted. if's and maybe's.........

I also had a co-worker beg me for 3 mo.'s to purchase a MINT 1970 (?) 350 oldsmobile rallye cutlass with a muncie that he drove every day... it was bright yellow with the black stripes running down the fiberglass hood and the trunk wing was perfect....$1200..... It was 1980 and I was "too poor" to afford it....dumba$$.

66 Olds 442, 97k miles. Perfect paint, perfect interior, no rust, drove perfect, bumpers needed straightening (they'd gotten hooked then pulled out from the car). $300

I begged anyone I could think of for the money ..... nope.

Even with all my current cars and the ones I've sold, there have been a few that got away. A co-worker told me that the guy who'd shared his cubicle had passed away, and his widow was selling his '68 GT500 KR. Fully restored, dark green, $37,000. I told him that was way too low, and to tell her she should get it appraised, because they were going in the $60 - 80K range at the time. I didn't have the cash, but I could probably have gotten a loan. She sold it to the first guy who came along for $37K. I was dumb, and I'll be kicking myself forever for passing up that one.

I also passed up a bunch of Boss 429 stuff pretty cheap, 2 complete engines and a hoard of different intakes and extra parts. What was I thinking?

I never got to see it, and I can't verify that it actually existed, but I think I missed out on snagging a '71 hemi 'cuda. It had been sitting in a barn since it was wrecked in 1974, bent in the middle after a hard landing from hitting a railroad crossing way too fast. The owner had mentioned having the front clip of a hemi 'cuda to another co-worker of mine. He didn't have any interest, but mentioned it to me a year later when we were talking about my Mopars. I immediately asked him to call the guy and get some details, and after a couple months of pestering, he did. I should have just got the guy's number. Turned out the front clip was still attached to the rest of the car, although he'd given the engine to his uncle. Also turned out that he'd since split up with his wife, and left it behind in the barn. So now I have to go through my co-worker, to the guy, to his son, to the ex-wife to find out what's up with this car. Story comes back that she had her new boyfriend drag all of his crap out of the barn with a front-end loader (including the 'cuda), smash it flat, and load it in a big dumpster. The guy is pissed, and doesn't want to talk about it anymore, so I can't even find out where the dumpster went, or get in touch with the uncle who has the hemi.
