"Should the engine make match the car make?" - - - for the "best" answer, ask the guy whose name's on the Pink Slip ;)

(yes, Min, that does look like WFO, minus the lemon peel)

I'm about to ask a stupid question........ Is the SBC in the old motorcycle air cooled? Where is the water pump?

Quarter-mile only, so it didn't have cooling.

That is the ORIGINAL MR. WFO....EJ Potter sitting atop Widowmaker 1.

No cooling system. Take note of the "exhaust manifold" made of a piece of square tube.

That's an "uncut" Harley frame. Potter was initially scared of cutting up the bike frame because he was under the impression that the sanctity of the frame shouldn't be screwed with. That opinion didn't last long when he found one of the man down bars split in two after a couple of laps.

Where's the balancer? Even the internally balanced small blocks should have one, right?

I reckon that black and white is a very early incarnation of his motorcycle.
I saw E.J. Potter run in the UK, he crashed, the one and only time in his V8 bike career.

Re: Should engine make match car make?

Potter's English wreck was off of the stand.

Only that first iteration of the bike was sans kickstand. EJ built a centrifugal clutch using some tractor parts and a Harley Davidson rear brake drum. When it broke a couple of times, he went for the stand method.

As far as the balancer goes, there is one on the motor in the b/w photo as best I can tell. That was most likely a little stock 265ci mill as that's what he started with and eventually ended up with 500hp alky injected motors.

Yup, he got it wound up then just leaned forwards, the rest was smoke.
