  • Larry Larson is the effing man!

Driving the '66 to the NHRA Topeka National Event to run Comp Eliminator this weekend!!

Will be awesome to see him bring the thunder against the likes of Rampy and the other hitters in the class.

      Refresh my memory:

How much horsepower does it take to shove a ~2500lb+ classic Nova into the 6's?
Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

That is cool, I used to work on a BB/AT and that thing got towed everywhere, to the stageing lanes, scales, back to the pit, I mean everywhere. I couldn't imagine driving it across the street, let alone to the track.
          How far away is it?

Grade Points? Has he run NHRA Div. races recently?
Will be a killer achievment, for sure...

How fast does he have to run to be competitive in AA/AT, and then in Comp overall? Straight to a National event is big time. I suspect we'll find out how fast it can really go, might be disheartening for other erstwhile DW Unlimited Competitors.

7.04 to make the show and a 6.50 to be in the money.

I think he may get by because he has driven other cars at 2 races.

This is the reason DOC and I have not done the Super Gasthing with our Street cars, but we have talked before, its on our bucket list

I'll be rooting for him, but if the index is 6.64 he'll have to be faster than 6.50 to be in the money. Unless he has a LOT of luck on his hands, he'll need to be 4-tenths under to have a prayer of winning first round. Again, I'll be rooting for him, but I don't see him going 6.24...

Jeff's right, the index is 7.04 so he will probably need to be at least .3 to .4 or more under to even get in the show. 6.65 or so...
As far as I'm concerned driving through the gate and making a qualifier would be an amazing success in its self...
