  • Show Us Americana.

There are many things that can be called Americana. These are things that are unique to the U.S. Let's see what you find out there.

I'll start with where I was at today for work.

About a mile from where Whiteman AFB used to be on San Fernando Rd is the Pink Motel and Cadillac Jack's Diner. Both got stuck in time and survived to this day. The current owner rents the place out for video, photo, and movie shoots. He also owns a couple dozen classic cars which were on the property today. Enjoy.

"Let's see what you can find out there." well there's me for starters! Cool pics for sure, that place really is a time warp isn't it, I've heard of it before (Freiburger article I think) but I've never seen it, thanks!

Kinda looks like Squirrel's place behind a fence

When I first saw the thread title the first thought that popped into my head were couches. I don't know what couches in Canada are like, but my European friends are blown away by the size and fluffyness of our couches. Think we spend much time on them?? =P

Canyon Service used to be in Santa Monica Canyon. They were old school, pumped your gas and even gave you a Coke in a glass bottle while you wait. They also sold 100 octane. Sadly, it's gone. Some say bulldozed, some say moved. There is another Mcmansion sitting in it's place now.

Gilmore Oil was one of many oil companies that existed in the LA area before WWII. This one sits next to the Farmer's Market in LA, right next door to CBS Television City. Inside is like a moment in time. The old Model A pickup runs and disappears sometimes.

What ‘Americana’ is varies from place to place. It’s cool seeing the Cali version and I sure hope to get a bunch of participation.
Here in fly-over country it’s a bit different. Americana is small town USA and small, crystal clear lakes and resort towns that are just pure jems in the summer time.
Here is a small town in Wisconsin’s apple country in the south-west portion of the state. This is a city near where my Father-in-law grew up in the 30’s and 40’s before he went to WWII at something like 16 years old.

This is the same region, another small town on a river that is very near the northern part of the Missippi River.

Here is the ACTUAL lake that’s part of the town of Elkhart lake where Road America is Located. We have hundreds (maybe thousands?) of these great little lakes in our state. On weekends that the track is Idle, it’s a quiet, fun little old summer resort town. On weekends during a big event it’s a loud fun little resort town. I love it both ways

Americana in the South. The last one is from Power Tour last year Oh yeah...they're definitely from KY...
