  • My cherokee MOLESTED!

@$#%& %$&^@ chipmunks have been working on my Jeep, they disconnected the stater solenoid(among other things). I can't tell if they were trying to hot wire it, or install a anti theft system.

It's time to put the scope back on the 22MAG!

despite the positive Disney press releases; chipmunks and their attendant rat cousins (squirrels) are still rodents (don't get me started on that F*&^^^^%%%!!!!!!!!!g rabbit Bugs the I'll eat your flower bed Bunny and his henchmen.)

that said, don't shoot the squirrel, shot just below it, run it up the tree then shoot the branch out from under it.... the coup de grace happens when they hit the ground stunned. (did I mention I don't like squirrels?)

      hahaha

I have a visual for you shrink.....

about once a week a squirrel will get startled from a bird feeder and one of the dogs will be waiting. They also will snag about a chipmunk every day or two. It's quite a sight to watch a 115 and a 150 pound dog chase down a lil rodent!

They also like the taste of big brown truck

        Take a five gallon bucket.
Fill it with about a foot of water.
Sprinkle sunflower seed on the top of said water.
Install a length of lattice or similar as a path to the top of the bucket.
Chippies run up the lattice, see the seed and dive in.
        GLUG, GLUG.
I nailed around a dozen last season. The person that told me this tip nailed about 50. He WAS quite infested.

          think positive...
your vehicle is clean enough to attract living things.

I have a subaru that can melt t304 and and human brains.

          gimme the squirrel infestation anyday.

I do have remnants of a mouse nest, that is a hopeful find.

            I don't mind squirrels.

            I don't mind chipmunks.

I cannot stand mice and rats.

This revelation came to me after vacumming out what I presume was a mouse nest out of the HVAC system of my old Diplomat. They lived near a pecan tree...even after I cleaned everything out, once in a while I'd turn on the heater and get hit with a piece of shell.
            Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

you, my friend, have not gone over your handlebars because of a furry terrorist..... just wait, you too will hate those nut-swilling rodents. especially as you're in the desert and the desert squirrels are the worst of the bushy-tailed terrorists.

My neighbor has been trapping racoons lately - nobody likes having to clean up the garbage cans at the end of the driveway every week.

Moth balls do a pretty good job of keep such vermin away from your stuff....

I'll take racoons over bears any day of the week.... my neighbor is at it again with the bird feeder - last year, the bear started on his feeder, then went into his garage and got his garbage cans.... and yesterday he was rebaiting his feeder.

coons can be a pain, but my dogs do NOT tolerate anything around the house at night. We don't have any coons, opossum, cats prowling around at night. We don't have many bears around here, but once in a while one will come around from the Big South Fork Ntl. Recreation Area. Sampson is an Anatolian Shepherd weighing 150lbs. Even at 14 months of age he will stand his ground (on his property) against anything not invited. So the rodents are just amusement for them, chase a few, eat a few. I am afraid to put out poison, so the bucket, 22MAG, and mothballs will be used to slow the infestation.

as I was typing the dogs told me we had another invader :-( A fuzzy tailed rat!

                        LOL Gail,

Don't think for a minute that my dogs have not done their share of damage. As long as they keep people away from my garage, I'll keep feeding them. hehehe

As far as the Cherokee goes, it's running again, but without A/C. The Vacuum line in the pic is actually a PLASTIC evaporator line from the A/C system....UGH

Friend of mine soaked cotton balls in peppermint oil, stuffed it in crevices under the hood. Worked. Little bahstids were making a condo in the hood insulation, and crapping on the oil filler on the valve cover. Gross.

An entire box of mothballs is in my truck bumper to bumper every winter. Did that, it worked, but the damn squirrels built a nest in the rafters above it, and crapped on the hood.
Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

I live in the city where things that go bang are frowned upon, so I use airsoft guns. Admittedly, you get some odd looks with three people standing around a groundsquirrel hole, two with what appear to be assault rifles and the other with a bucket of water to flush the little bugger out.
