yeah, dang things are getting expensive for some of the Qjets. $35, float was another 15 or so. And the kit didn't have a complete accel pump....which was a bummer because the plastic part was cracked. I did have another carb to scrounge one from fortunately. And finding it led to the discovery that the parts carb is off an 85 big block truck.

It's been a few years since I did a Qjet, but I did remember how it all works...

Im still welding on the GTO, need to work on my trailer and get a truck drivable so I can go pick up a parts car. The weather here is nice, only 67F so the worst thing about it is billions of mosquitoes the size of F111s. Still need to build a couple more E85 Qjets, and get the stainless sheet for a new boiler, but that can wait till later this fall. Always improving on the Qjets.

Wish I could go racing, but it isnt going to happen this year.

Installed new valve cover gaskets on the W motor.......temps
            were 96 inside the garage.
Humidity was high with all the rain we've had.

Working on the shop. 100+ in a cinderblock building with no windows and the garage door is pointing the wrong way to get a breeze. Supposed to be 106 tomorrow. I've got an old AC system that I might sit on a table and try blowing in.

I'm trying to rearrange the shop to be...just a shop. I'd like to move the storage into another one of the out buildings. Right now I'm working on upgrading the air system. Then tomorrow I've got to look again at the wiring system in the SVO in order to try to eradicate a gremlin.

I got one coming up next month, the guys been here almost 20 years, he's finally retiring and moving to his place up in SnowFlake which is basically up and around the corner from my place in ShowLow, he said he was putting on an edition to the cabin that he already has up there, moving all his landscaping equipment up there and taking off for a couple of months on his Harley.......Mmmmm, the good life..........

my day wrenching sucked out loud!!

Started with the greatest of intentions, got all the stuff to do a timing belt swap on my trusty '96 camry. Everything was going good up until 3 of the plugs came out with difficulty and dicked up the threads - then, the 4th plug wouldn't come out at all - SNAP! broke it in half.

So now, instead of wrapping up, I'm tearing off the intake and exhaust manifolds to try and get the head off, and get it to the local machine shop for R&R...

Luckily I have a second beater, 2001 honda cr-v that seems to be running fine (235,000 miles). Still, really pisses me off that previous mechanics on this car didn't seem to use anti-seize on the plugs...

I welded some angle iron into the bed of Goliath that will serve as the back of the channel that will hold my tailgate in. I hope to build the tailgate next weekend.

Scott, that blows. hopefully you can get the head off without too much more hassle.

I have to defend the Camry and it's mighty, 2.2 liter 4 banger!! 32mpg religiously, doesn't burn a drop of oil, has been 100% reliable.

Be careful to not over torque the sparkplugs when using anti-seize, and if you are using NGK's you don't have to use anti-seize due to the fact that NGK uses a special plating on the metal part of the sparkplug.....

It is recommended to use spark plugs with the special plating on all aluminum cylinder head applications to prevent damage to the cylinder head. All NGK Spark Plugs are manufactured with special shell plating on the metal body. The use of anti-seize on spark plugs is only recommended on those brands that do not offer a special metal shell plating. Spark plugs that have a shiny silver appearance on the metal body usually indicate that the spark plug is manufactured with special metal shell plating. When installing spark plugs without special metal plating (with anti-seize), install based on vehicle manufacturer’s torque angle.]
