Wrenching?

So for the first time this year.... I'm going down to my shop and wrench on my Junk....

The Camaro is getting a light make over... nothing fancy... just some better paint and minor ( read HUGE ) seat position and head restraint positioning....

Hmmm and it's Freaking Hot Outside..... ahhhh but the joys of modern science has saved me from it's grasp...... Turn up the Air .... lets rock....

it ain't racing but it's wrenching: yesterday I put new rotors and brake pads on my daily driver. Today, I'm replacing the timing belt, water pump, cam and crank seals, and other misc. crap on it.

I have a bit more to do on the mezzanine to be followed by actually organizing the shop - WAY overdue. But in line right after that is getting the Buzz Bomb back in for a bit of a redo - fix the issues from the fire, fuel cell, new fuel lines, maybe a cam swap, onboard fire system (I DO learn my lessons, even if it's the hard way) and continue to make it the world's safest 100 MPH Camaro.

So wrenching is on the horizon but still not in focus.

Keith - you gonna spray the Camaro at home or farm it out? How pretty are you going to make it?

Air Conditioned shop, put me in the envious column! It was so hot & humid here yesterday (not as hot as AZ.) my day didn't start till 7:00 last night, not much wrenching but I washed the Daughter's VW, Wife's Envoy, my truck & car trailer, Trofeo, Red Nova and loaded it in the trailer and I still have the Spindle to re-install on "Purple I" but I didn't get that far. I almost forgot, I rearranged the parking in the garage and didn't back into anything or do any damage!

Im actually in the first steps of taking the 468 out from the Chevelle..after the last track day,i got too much blow by in some cylinders..its hot here,so i work slow.

Only wrenching I did 'kinda' was helping my friend with his Allis Chalmers Model B motor...



The oil galley for the cam & crank journals cracked & leaked internally, so he made a sleeve & I helped him with it, sorta lol!
I located parts for his motor & in return I got a free brand new driver door shell, a really nice passenger door, & 2 nice fenders for my new S-10 project!!! woo!!!

I'm going to be clean a bunch of Skylark parts and may get around to starting on the planning phases or re-designing the fuel system.

My buddy Stu came by yesterday, and we got quite a bit done on my Mustang project (updated my build thread last night). Unfortunately we had the opposite of A/C ... the greenhouse where the car sits, that was so nice to work inside in the cold weather, well, not so much now. LOL.

Been doing the disc brake conversion on Gregg's '58 Caddy. Got it running and driving yesterday, but it isn't right yet. Not enough braking power. I can't get them to lock up.

Then I'm pulling the carbs off the Impala and Caprice and tweak them a bit so they run better on the Cali summer blend.

And, yes, it is hot out. Already hot and it's only 10 am. Cars won't be shaded in the driveway until 3 pm. If I any sense at all I'd skip getting hot, sweaty and greasy and head to the beach.

we had one freak day, while ground was still cold, quick peak to 89F.
been waiting ever since that one day for another one.

this week looks promising as per average usual...at least an 85 would be good.

I super tanked a wheel well saturday..weld, quick geometry.. now playing with sealers. I actually bought an autobody siiicone.. that is not like me. Gimme the 3 dollar stuff that self explode to hydrocarbons. (alright I learned my lesson)

that stuff gets serious too... alot of things get serious. A simple chore could be beyond einstein explanation.

Been nice and warm here, although the rains have started. It's tough trying to get motivated to work on anything. But I did get the carb squared away on what I guess is my "daily driver", the extended cab 59 pickup. Ended up rebuilding two Qjets, the second one has the right choke setup for the intake that's on the engine, it'll be nice to have that working.....when it gets cold again....

The forecast here has the temps going under 105 in about a week, this has been one weird summer, we were in the 90's and everything was still feeling ok and then it seemed like in one day we went form 90's to 115 degrees and it's pretty much been 110+ since, hell yesterday the high was 118!!!!! So needless to say I'm not going to be wrenching in heat like that........But then maybe we'll get lucky and have a short summer........
