21-Trevor Bayne's finish in Saturday night's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, giving him the worst finish in Daytona's July race for that season's Daytona 500 winner. The previous worst finish was 40th for Cale Yarborough, the 1983 Daytona 500 winner. The 1983 Firecracker 400 had a field of 40 cars, and although Yarborough started on the pole and led a lap, his engine failed after five laps. Forty-three cars started Saturday night's race.

Well, he already showed he knew the way around the track in February. And you can't ask for much better than the outside pole, though he ended up inside at the green when Mark wanted the outside.
Stuff happens so fast there, well stuff happens. And he sure was good about it. He got wrecked, not of his doing, and he was a great interview afterward. Composed, especially for such an infant in a huge sport. You let something like that happen to Tony Stewart, and you don't want any cameras around him for days. At least I don't want to be holding one around him (a camera).
I remembered last night why I watched NASCAR for decades, every race on TV and a few at the track. And then I remembered why I generally don't any more.Charter member of the Turd Nuggets
