2.43....BINGO. I have a car here that showed just under 2.5 turns of the driveshaft to 1 turn of the rear wheels.. Thanks so much

Many were 2.43. It was almost impossible to get 3.08's by that time.

3.08 and 3.42 were 4 speeds and some 301 WS6 cars. Usually the automatics got 2.43, 2.56, 2.73. I like all of those, lots of fun with 455s.

Not a lot of four speeds. Couldn't even buy one in Cali.

my 77 cutlass had 2.43s, used it for dirt track racing, I would run 1st gear with the turbo 350 and a 235-75-15 tire

Does anyone make a ring gear spacer so I can put a 3.42 on that 2.43 carrier?

Might do better with a 3.08 carrier or 2.73

I have a 2.56 posi 10 bolt leaf spring rear under my bench right now. Bought a beige, vinyl top, chrome-laden, V6/Automatic, '77 pontiac ventura. It was raining when I picked it up, never even thought about checking for a posi under it... so.... I jumped on the gas pedal real hard turning at an intersection and it went slideways..real slideways! The original owner special ordered it for some reason, then took it back to the dealer complaining about Howling noises....4 times! it only has 54,000 miles on it. smoke maker.
