I think you can't even run a real ponco 400 in those years ,has to be the olds 403..

Not trying to be a dic, but I never knew GM used a 2:43 ratio. My 80 Firebird had a 2:41 with a code of GU1. All those 243 must be real rare.

I agree. LOL. Yeah, 2 hundreths of a tooth. Who cares? Well, it's at the rear end shop going from 2.4's to 3.4's. I'm wondering what to expect? Slight, or large difference?

Dont they still have an exemption for alt fuel vehicles? That might be one way to get a 455 in a 79-81. Besides, it looks like a 350 and kinda like a 301, most smog guys wont know the difference. Also if it had a 400, you can stroke it to 496 easy, and 79 had 400s so it should be legal.
