Can't run a 455 in a 79 or 80 Firebird in this state unless you have a buddy with a smog machine who's willing to lose his BAR license to pass you under the table.

ok kill me for what 2 hundrenths of a tooth. but thanks for spending the time on google,(as only pontiac nuts have codes memorized) but if anyone else posted it you'd not have bothered..

I agree. LOL. Yeah, 2 hundreths of a tooth. Who cares? Well, it's at the rear end shop going from 2.4's to 3.4's. I'm wondering what to expect? Slight, or large difference?

No need to remind me of why I dont live in the People's Republic. I can get rust free cars there if I want, then bring em up here and build what I like.

Dont they still have an exemption for alt fuel vehicles? That might be one way to get a 455 in a 79-81. Besides, it looks like a 350 and kinda like a 301, most smog guys wont know the difference. Also if it had a 400, you can stroke it to 496 easy, and 79 had 400s so it should be legal.

Yep, but at least I'm driving my muscle in January while most everyone else is trying to find their winter beaters in the snow drift.

A LOT LESS improvement than I expected for that big of a jump in gear. 2.4 to 3.4

You wasnt the only one that answered that Mark, quit feeling picked on, no wonder you have so much stress in life.

If 2 hundredths isnt a big deal , please never do any engine work for me.
