Beware of what vic edelbrock is selling!!!

heres one for you guys.... just got my fuel pressure regulator for the hot rod pickup i'm building. bought it from summit racing, the part (8190) was in an edelbrock blister package price was $57.95 upon further inspection of the part i noticed that someone had taken a die grinder and removed some casting numbers off both sides of the body of the regulator and on the bottom side of the body was " MADE IN KOREA" !!!!!
so i called summit and talked to a tech guy who said either someone had returned that part and did a switcheroo with a "non edelbrock " part in it but he was going to check on that part (edelbrock 8190) on his shelf and get to the bottom of this issue.
about an hour passed he called me back and he said that all his 8190 had part numbers die grinded off the sides of the part and the worst part is that the parts are actually HOLLEY parts made in korea and the exact holley part is $30 cheaper than what edelbrock is pawning off as his own!!
SO I'M PRETTY MUCH DONE WITH BUYING ANYTHING MADE BY EDELBROCK! IF HE HAS TO STOOP TO THIS LEVEL AND TO CHARGE $30 MORE TO PACKAGE IT IN HIS BOX HE CAN STICK IT!!! AND TO DIE GRIND THE NUMBERS OFF THE PARTS? THE FRIGGING PART IS CHROMED AND IT HAS DIE GRINDER MARKS ALL ON THE SIDES!!! THIS HAS TO BE BORDERLINE ILLEGAL I WOULD THINK.

If it isn't their heads or intakes it's most likely made by someone else and they are just putting their name on it........Edelbrock was the pioneer of relabeling other peoples stuff as their own, been doing for the last 20+ years........

I've known about this for some time. The Performer RPM cam for Pontiacs is nothing more than a Crane Blueprint or Melling RA IV stick, and they sell it for twice as much. One of those is also the only cam I have ever had go flat. The price on all their heads went down or stayed the same except for Pontiac heads, which went up $400. We also know to take them apart and check everything before we run them, everything from shavings to valves not ground have been found. At least they sell the stuff we can use now, and they have a new head that actually flows something, and a D-port for cheap headers. Its just how they are, they will do anything to make a buck, that is how business works these days.

I'm not a Jr. fan - his dad is probably rolling over in his grave. Jr's degree is in business. Dad built parts. I think what you are seeing is related to this (from wikipedia)

"...On June 7, 2010, the Chicago-based private equity firm Industrial Opportunity Partners(IOP) announced their strategic investment in the Edelbrock corporation. With $185 million of committed capital, IOP focuses on acquiring and managing middle-market manufacturing and value-added distribution businesses. Edelbrock also became a limited liability corporation (LLC). At the same time, Edelbrock announced a new acting president. John Colaianne, a member of IOP's board of operating principles replaced Vic Edelbrock, who has served as president since 1962. Vic Edelbock remains chairman on the board of directors.[27][28] ..."

                  and it makes me sad.

Shit, at my last job I use to buy a lot of CAT 5E wire for network and cameras from my vendor. The wire boxes blatenly had the name cut out of the cardboard with a utility knife and their label pasted elsewhere. Normal stuff.

Beag's, Vic Sr. was doing it to, think the old Carter carbs.....He had them produce them and he put an Edelbrock sticker on it....My friend just pulled one of those off his Blazer about 6 months ago, I laughed and said look it's a Carter, it was cast right in the body of the carb, and then it had an Edelbrock sticker on the front.....

Carter and Edelbrock were buying those carbs from Weber. You'll see a W embossed on the back of the carb. Carter was owned by Federal Mogul and didnt have the advertising budget to cover in their prices, so their carbs were $50 less. That was 20 years ago.
