What's the worst dulcich can do: have a stern talking with you? bore you with stories of Mopars? talk about how he became one with those 40,000 stumps - seriously, those guys in California do weird things with stumps. -
Like the neighbors already do?Originally posted by Brian Lohnes View Post... I'll flip my middle finger to the sky and curse Dulcich's name.

There should be special neighborhoods for neighbor hoods. That way nobody would stay pissed... "Dammit, knock that sh*t off, I just got home from 24 hour shift!" and have a beer the next day to exchange insults over each others weak ass dump truck / tow trucks.
I'm sad. I donated my bus to a Church. Couldn't get insurance on it... it would take Bruab's tow truck to tow it though.

I, for one, have every confidence in you. I think Steve was using "safety" as another way to goad you. I say "GO FOR IT" - and the nay-sayers will all be humbled when the stump is hanging off the back of Brutus with photographic proof.
Folks - Brian is no idiot and wants to be around for his kids as they grow up. He'll stop before he hurts anything in a permanent manner. I know this man - I've sipped with him in a motel conference room.

I'm sitting at a grand total of one tow truck, but have been around a decent amount of winches/winching during my 4wd phase. I'm not going to just yank the handle down and tear the truck in half. If the thing shows no signs of movement when the cable tightens up, I'll flip my middle finger to the sky and curse Dulcich's name.

out of curiosity, how many tow trucks have you operated, Brian? 40k lbs of pulling translates to a s**tload of potential energy.... something breaks, something doesn't work quite right and a cut hand won't be a worry as they're pretty good at sewing parts back together for the open casket.Leave a comment:

I'm sure Tom will be all right. He was probably showing off his stitches at school today. As for Kerri, moms get mad at anything or anyone who hurts their little ones. She'll get over it..........eventually. Just don't hold your breathe waiting for it to happen.Leave a comment:

Arm band or not, if you are intent on going ahead with this crazy stunt, you'd better have your head around what is going to be involved, and approach it sensibly to avoid property damage or worse. Take it from a man who knows... I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I've pulled over 40,000 stumps in my day.Originally posted by Brian Lohnes View PostSteve, all the safety precautions will be in place. It is still on. I'll even wear my safety officer/hall monitor arm band.

Brian,
I'm wondering if you should just back out of the whole stump-pulling plan. I kind of get the feeling you just don't have much experience with that kind of stuff, and with your run of bad luck, I'd probably feel guilty about egging you on if you end up hurting yourself or someone else. I'm just not sure that I trust you'll take sensible precautions to do this safely. I'm gonna let you just say uncle on this one if you want to, and you won't get another peep outa me (at least on this board) on the stump pulling escapade. Consider it an opportunity to bow out gracefully. You can enjoy Brutus in many other manly ways, like hoisting a motor out of your basement, or dragging wrecked cars around. It is a great truck. What do you say?

You'll hurt far longer than he will. Getting hurt is part of growing up, in fact, I think that kids whose parents don't ever allow them to do anything that may hurt them will have kids who grow up unable to cope with life's problems.Leave a comment:

With two boys ages 11 and 13 I can tell you this won't be the last time he'll get hurt. My youngest has had staples in his head 3 different times, got whiplash because he was on a trampoline and his friend put him in a headlock and tried to bounce flip him(playing WWF), multiple skateboarding dumps resulting in bruised butts, smashed hands, twisted ankles, etc..........
Oh ya, the fun has just begun..........
Glad the little kiddo is going to be ok!!!!!Last edited by TC; September 12, 2011, 08:27 AM.Leave a comment:

Great news on the Monday recovery Brian. Lee is fighting an ear infection and had a reaction to the antibiotics - it certainly tears you up to see your kids in pain. Hope he has a great day at school bragging about his old mans fleet of giant tonka toys! I hope Keri will learn to love the big guy anyway.Leave a comment:

Thanks fellas.
He slept all night and woke up excited to go to pre-school and see his pals, so it seems that all is well. I was worried that he would be hurting really bad and wouldn't be able to go to his first day of school. He was happy as a clam when I talked to him this morning, which was music to my ears.
Seems Jim was right. He appears to be pretty much over it and knowing that, I can be too.

You've heard of that game, 6 degrees to Kevin Bacon? My wife plays the same game, only she can do it in 2, and the game is, "racing causes greif because...."Leave a comment:
