Just in case you missed it, Matt Hagan was the first Funny Car pilot to go into the 3's this afternoon during qualifying at Charlotte. That's another high point since the NHRA went to 1000 foot fuel races.

Whoopie, maybe we can convince the NHRA to just run the 8th mile and we can see who can run 2's.
Seriously it's just not the same if it isn't the whole 1320.

Hagan makes another great pass but not quite quick enough to back up his run yesterday for the record. He was on a really great run but green flames started coming from the headers about 700 feet out, then a fire developed underneath the car. The car is smoking pretty heavily just as he goes through the lights, then the Safety Safari has to roll to put out the flames.
Neff went up in smoke about 300 feet out.
Matt Hagan's incremental times: 60ft-0.888 sec., 330ft-2.300, 660ft-3.255/270.27 mph
That was a 4.038 at 310
What would he have to have ran to get the record?Originally posted by TCalso boost will make the cam act smallerComment

As I understand, he did back up the record.
But in answer to your question, Matt had to run plus or minus 1 percent of his qualifying run -
so... anywhere between 3.95 to 4.05.... approximately. Feel free to check my math.Last edited by studemax; September 18, 2011, 08:22 PM.Act your age, not your shoe size. - PrinceComment

You understand wrong.
In order for Hagan to have set the record he would have needed a lap of 4.029 or better. That which you manifest is before you.Comment
