Rock 'n Roll seems to be in good hands

It sure is, to see a young person these days interested in that music, let alone to have worked at it so hard to be playing it that well on the Big Stage. That's cool.Originally posted by DanStokes View PostREASSURING!!!!!

That only shows how disconnected I am anymore. I thought all the kids these days listened to or played rap or the depressing monotone vocal songs where the words don't rhyme. I haven't turned on the radio in maybe 20 years, probably longer. I've got my head in the sand and I know I do. Probably not a good thing to brag about at all.
Which reminds me, the classic rock stations.....it sure has been a long time since they released any new classic rock songs. They're all just sitting right there in time where thay always were. All the same ones. Over and over. Becuase there's nothing else to feed from if you're running a classic rock station.Charter member of the Turd NuggetsComment

That's interesting you should say that Stich. And I'm not countering your point at all.Originally posted by Stich496 View Postprrwee wrong, there are tons of new music that fits the classic rock stations sound/format..
to bad music directors at radio stations are stuck on. not playing them..
It's just that.....this will take some telling to tell it right...my ex-boss is/was a great musician and composer in his own right. But we were wired different, to the point that it actually caused me some strife on the job. It caused only ME some strife, internally. Never mind music, we just thought polar opposites on everything. We were each measured that way on some of those brain tests that are out there where you measure yourself and find out the results. The end result is, "Here's a report about who you are." And danged if those sort of things are not accurate as could be. Yes, they are. Those surveys, and the results, never tell you anythng you didn't already know about yourself, but there it is on paper. And let me compare mine to his, yeah, now I KNOW why we clash.
But we didn't really clash, to the point he played the music for Sue Unit's and my wedding.
But he said always, "peewee, there's GREAT music out there being made right now. Here - Listen."
I'd listen...no, that doesn't do it for me. When you're stuck in a mould and you get shot out of that mould, you're going to be in the shape of the mould. And I was measured that way, too. No, I just can't be adjusted. Or, more accurately, I can't adjust myself.Last edited by pdub; October 7, 2011, 01:28 PM.Charter member of the Turd NuggetsComment

My kids listen to Ke$ha, Katie Perry and all sorts of crap I have no time for. They also know who Blind Lemon Jefferson and Robert Johnson are, as well as Bach, Mozart and Stravinski. AC/DC, Nirvana, and Stevie Ray Vaughn get a lot of airtime also. Good music is good music. Incorporate what you like and respect the rest, is our message to them.
My daughter turned 11 this summer, and here's here "Rock Band" camp group after two weeks of rehearsal:

It won't let me watch. Assuming that's your daughter on Bass, tell her it's a great gig. Almost everyone who spends a month playing bass decides that they should be in the spotlight playing lead and they leave the bass behind. Hence, there's a shortage of good bass players. To see what's possible artistically, look up John Entwhistle - amazing.
In classical music there's the same issue with violists. ME ALWAYS has a hard time finding viola players for a quartet (or is that a LITRET in metric?).
Hope we can get the kids video to play on here.

But but but but that's incredible.
Buddy Guy has always intentionally had a white guy on stage that could upstage him, that's been the trend. He's just too lazy to play his own stuff. I dunno, like he just got tired over time. But but but never one quite that young. That's amazing. That's just amazing.Charter member of the Turd NuggetsComment

Its cool to see young kids playing out. To see what happens when those young prodigies grow up get your self to a Joe Bonnamassa concert. He played with BB and Buddy when hw was a kid.
Patricks'Dad I know you're very proud.
I'm still unsure about the Henrix version of All along the Watch Tower being played on a Les Paul and an SG, seems sacreligious somehow.
