"The California Kid" doesnt get any love......when it comes to car movie discussions, never mentioned, never talked about.......but is one of the cars that I actually recall in detail when I discuss cars. So Im asking you guys for your opinions why or why not......is it because the used 70's cheesy porn sounding music in a movie set in late 50's....but the sound tech got the sound of the 34's exahust just right for a pre-dolby movie. So let us know pro/con or if you dont care at all..........

I don't think I've seen it since 1974? It sure made a big impression on me at the time (mostly the car).My fabulous web page

Everything in it was a ripoff from car movies from the previous 30 years.
Although I still mention it when I talk about car movies. I mention it in the same breath as Sha-Na-Na.

was this the one with Martin Sheen? I think it was a pilot for a t.v. show that never got picked up? I was pretty young, which explains a lot. God protects those brain cells for those "I remember when" stories that drive the grandkids batty.

I enjoyed it because it was a cool car and I like Martin Sheen, but like alot of 70's movies it was a bit corny. The movie Cannonball with David Carradine I loved as a kid. I tried to watch it a few years ago for the first time in decades, I couldn't believe how BAD it was! I mean totally lame! The two car movies I can watch over and over and never get tired of are Bullitt and Vanishing Point.Just groovin' to my own tune.Comment

What about Rebel of the Road (Hot Rod) finding that sucker is like finding hens teeth...saw it on TNN back in 88 or 89 and have not seen it since...If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark DonohueComment
