  • How cool is (or isn't) this thing? 1970's retro inside....

We have the patina debate, how about the coolness of the 1970s street machine style debate.

Yes, this car does have a Hemi in it.

Not too crazy about the Roadrunner stripe, but it seems to work.

OK, for the guys that don't know, let me fill you in on the "scene." Back in the day, the stock muscle was cool, yes; but it was the modified stuff that got noticed. If you think a regular Dart, Chevelle or Mustang got much more than a second look, you are kidding yourself. All those were just ordinary everyday cars. Falcon, Road Runner, Torino, Firebird, Charger? Same deal - it was pretty common stuff. The radical modified cars got ALL the glory back then, and the stock stuff was as interesting as grandma's car. I would look at stock stuff and like most would just consider it a POS. A very few top musclecars were the exception. The normal stuff was no big deal. A lot of the stuff that guys get wood over today were not even considered as more than basic transport.

Does it have A/C? It looks like a condensation puddle under where the compressor would be.

Something I am beginning to feel very strongly about is that the only wrong way to build a car is if it is built to be a poser. As far as style, build what you like and drive what you like... but do it well. Ya, you could take that to the extreme and say that you wanted the car to look, run, and seem like a complete hack job, but nobody is buyin' it. Whatever style you dig, do it and do it well. If you like '70's Cragars and bias plys... get on it.
All that to say, cool or not cool is in the eyes of the beholder. Forget about the trends and the ins. It's all fluid anyway and subject to change as soon as one too many people copy it or poser parts show up in the chrome plastic aisle of Pep Boys. Like what you like and like what you do. That is what makes any of it cool anyway.

For what it's worth, the Challenger would be cool if it ran at least low 12's without leaving a green liquid trail everywhere. It'd be cooler if it ran at least a good as Squirrel's '55.

That's my era, so yea! And I agree about stock muscle cars, at least in 1980, they were just a blank canvas waiting for hop-up parts. If there's a heaven, this would be mine.

The stripes look like they were painted by a 12 year old, 70's cool is ok, but that car looks built yesterday to look the part. I might be wrong.
