  • thinking I need a new doctor

they put me on some crap I can't pronounce.. that helped a little,, but caused bleading..
at hospital today, they added 2 pints, I know I didn't cough up that much.. and stools where not that red.. but they topped me off. and I'm not to take those meds anymore..
    back to square one..
Wife came back from a wake only to text me, "where r u" and me having to say hospital..
I can kinda deal with my health issues.. kinda.. but I can't watch my wife worry 24/7..
I'd rather get it over with and just pass than put her through anymore if they can't seem to find the underlien problem.. it's killing me watching her be a nervous wreck..

Trust me man, she'll be a bigger wreck if your not there!!!!......My buddy John is going through the same thing with his wife, she has a brain tumor, they removed 90% of it, but she's been having all sorts of medical problems since........And yes it might be time to see another doctor and get a second opinion......Hell it took John's wife seeing at least 3 or 4 doctors before they found the brain tumor.........

Mark - I've fired several doctors and moved on. One of my biggest concerns about moving to Wilmington was getting a new team in place but I now have a decent group and a fairly good quarterback (GP) to make sure the drugs all play nice together, etc. It sucks that this has to become a job (I probably spend 10-20 hours on health stuff in the average week) but that's what it takes for me. Not so much now but at one time a lot of that time was spent doing research into my various conditions and the docs credentials.

As far as the wife stuff - I know what you mean. I really love mine too and it's tough when you're putting them thru stuff and have no control over it. But I can assure you that she'd prefer that to you being gone. I don't know where you live but you may need to plan a "vacation" to Mayo, Duke Medical, Johns Hopkins, University of Michigan, - someplace with a skilled, multidisiplinary program to track down difficult issues like yours. I wish there was an easier answer but I'll wager there IS an answer somewhere.

I'm not a pray-er but if you'd like I'll have ME put you on the prayer list at Church of the Servant. Ask Joe Roberts - it can't hurt!

Ditto, find a new doc. You have to feel comfortable with your doc. My neighbor's daughter, who's a nurse wasn't feeling quite right a few years back. She went to several docs and they all said she was fine but she didn't buy it. Finally it was caught that she has leukemia. With her persistence to find the right doc, she's alive and healthy today.

                what he said.

I've been forced to spend over a week at a hospital six different times, in my life ...My father is a retired DDS. I grew up with doctors and thier friends, and they are just like us. Varied. Good and Bad. Competant and incompetant. Some actually care about ya, but most don't. just like you may have turned off your work phone at the end of the day... they will too.... but you don't want that.... you want the guy that answers the phone at 3am... so ya gotta look for that right doctor... eh? If your current doctor is scratchin' his head...and he hasn't brought in another "specialist" on HIS initiative... then you may want to ... your not in this to be nice or make friends...seriously. best of luck for ya!

                  hang in there.

you are not in rural maine with no choices.

I am disabled, no correct diagnosis. Never got one.
if you have choices, use them.

complex and health, not many doctors take it on. Crazy as an 87 subaru..win the sickness and get no extra book value ..if you know what I mean. Doctors are like that. Compassion is not much of an equation apparently.

I am about 220 miles from a hospital that would have a blast with my life, the science experiment.
