For some reason that reminded me of the near riot we had when Sears "Corporate" banned all of the free Snap-On/Proto/Cornwall/Matco girlly calendars from the garage "back room" at Western Auto (yes, for some reason every installer and tech in the shop seemed to be enslaved to a different "Ez-Credit" tool truck vendor . . . That made paydays fun . . . .)

At least the "nekkid" chick wasn't all covered up with "ink" (how did they miss that?) Of course, that's exactly how every typical Bangshifter's shop looks . . . with some totally nude "cookie" preparing to bolt on the pie-crust slicks . . . . Okay, I'll admit upfront that I'm the Andy Rooney of Bangshifting, but anytime I see the words "hot rod," "music" and "lifestyle" in the same sentence, I'm ready to run screaming out of the store!

While I like (actually LOVE) vintage-style cars and old-school tech, does it always have to be bookended with annoying "lifestyle" prattle such as: (a) hideous tattooed "circus freak" chicks, (b) tasteless humor, (c) Lousy Ed Roth cartoon knockoffs, (d) photos of crappy, greasy, third-rate "garage" bands?

And why do all the "Rodz" "lifestyle" magazines apparently think its "Kool" to publish books that aesthetically look like the bastard offspring of underground punk concert posters and a second-graders' school notebook?

As for "Jesse James" . . . Any chump who would pointless ruin as many good vehicles as he did for that brain-cell-killing TV show he did (not to mention cheat on the smokin' hot Sandra Bullock with . . . gag . . . urp . . . Kat Von D . . . or whichever awful, defaced "lifestyle" broad he allegedly diddled between "tat" sessions) is hardly someone I'd consider an authority on much of anything . . . except how NOT to do things . . . .

The way I see it, charging $12 buck for another "lifestyle" pile of crap is a public service . . . . Buy the Rodders Journal instead.

(Okay, I did like the IowaHawk story in "Garage" on Turbonique and the one that film review chick did on "Two-Lane Blacktop," but I just never could bring myself to buy those issues because of all the other "lifestyle" garbage in the books)

As discussed on here, print media is sort of a dinosaur. I'm guessing these guys took a sort of high-end, coffee table book sort of approach as their business plan. Hope they can make it work.

There is a new magazine out called Autocult, it is the new incarnation of the old Garage Magazine that was out a few years back. It is a Hot Rod/Music/Lifestyle deal, West Coast based and it hit the shelves a week or two ago. I can't seem to find one locally any BS'ers feel like taking a look at your local Barnes & Noble or other newstand and picking one up and sending it to me in PA? I think it's 12 bucks and I will, of course, reimburse you for all expenditures incurred. Pretty please?
