Really, what's on the list for you the gearhead on your list?
    What's on your list?
What's on the list for the one who lets you have gearhead stuff? (aka, greasing the wifey wheels gifts)

We don't do a lot of gifts anymore other than for the Grands. If we want something we buy it during the year and begin enjoying it. As far as the family (our sibs and kids) we usually just send some cash so they can get exactly what they want if we do anything at all. I guess we've pretty well taken the commercialism out of our holidays. We also buy gifts like farm animal donations and that sort of thing in the name of our loved ones. No one on what would be our list NEEDS anything.

you bring up a good point - not asking whether bought or not, just what you're doing for those you care about... the best gifts are the ones that take thought (IMO) not necessarily cash.

x-mas car gifts, never got car parts for gifts,, but yet have been told since I've been 15 I'm hard to buy for.. yes my family is blind..HELLO..
wifie won't be buy'n anything as she's out of work. her gift of alowing me to do as I please with my junk will be gift enough..
If I thought they'd get the hint, I'd leave printouts of the msII page, but .
dad always got me something with the #3 on it.. 1:64th or 1:24th.. he doesn't now as he has no idea of what I already have..
one year it was a snap on screwdriver set.. #3.. tried to hint that anything from #14 or #88 #2 would'be fine..
I'd really like some 1:24th or 1:18th models kits.. I'd really like to get daddo to maybe go on the powertour this year...
it jump start him working on his junk.. we'll see.. a week with dad and cars would be great.. and get both of us out of our funk..
he hasn't done much since his wife died, and we'll I've been a sourpuss. way to long.. two pig headed guys in the same vehicle for a week.. HA.. if we made the whole week and still smile'n it be a total WIN. and is something we both need, that be the best gift.. of all.

Mark, I have the same issue. Though, I just had this conversation with family members about I what I wanted this year. I made it perfectly clear that I am a gearhead. I want gearhead things. If they can't deal with that, don't buy anything. I'd rather get nothing than something I don't want or need. I live in LA. What the hell do I need with another freaking sweater?

I want nothing and intend of giving nothing. For the kids, it is going to be a small one, they will be in shock...I am tired of running up my credit for this holiday...I intend on keeping it small and family oriented.

Mark, My kids have so much, a home, food, nice clothes, phones, TV's, video games,computers...what more could they need? Not trying to be a Scrooge, just trying to be realistic. I always had a good Christmas as a kid without my folks spending gobs of cash. I figure about 150 each should be more than sufficient. Some new clothes, a video game or two but I cant fathom them needing or wanting much more. They both have Ipods and phones, they dont play with toys. Maybe tickets to a concert or something.

Scott - I may send you a sweater just out of spite! HA!

We are down on gifts as well other than for the kids - with all the inlaws now getting gifts for all the brothers sisters cousins, no way.
We get gifts for the kids only.

As for what I want, I WANT all sorts of stuf but I don't NEED anything.... this will be the first Christmas I put a train track around the tree - we'll see how Lee reacts to that.

On my list are things to make my life a bit easier....
                      - the one thing that really annoys me is the cordless drill / driver debacle. When you need it - it's not charged or it goes through the battery before the job is done. Buy a new battery is expensive enough you might as well buy a new drill/driver.
Does anyone make a drill/driver that works well if it's only used occasionally? My problem is I won't use it for a month or more - then use the crap out of it one day... then it sits again. Do the lithium ion batteries really work better or do they just cost more?
There's always something new to learn.

Christmass is always interesting for us as our anniversary is just 3 days after Christmas.

Some times we get a family gift, a few years back we got a Wii for example.
When we do get gifts, it's pretty straight forward, she buys me tools (Or a sears gift card) and I get her jewelry.
Last year I got my Norco jack and she got shiny stuff.
A gift card from summit or Jegs would sure be nice this year;)

                          The older I get.......the less I want.

We used to do the whole family deal on her side......I said we should just get in one
big circle and everyone give the person next to them a $20 bill. Done

But.......everyone knows my likes and usually get a Sears gift card
                          to buy tools.

The wife and I really don't do Xmas anymore, it's just another paid holiday that we sit around and eat. last year we went to the beach and saw some guy in a santa suit surfing.
Just groovin' to my own tune.

I would prefer some good food, a bunch of drinks and skip the gift thing for anyone over 18.
But hey, what can ya do?
