Oh, wait a minute, I must be thinking of something else. I don't get running either. They are addicted to some weird rush of endorphines that are released from the excercise of running.

Guess those endorphines don't release from regular work?

see, even Reese Witherspoon agrees with you

and wait a minute.... you wife ran 11 miles (smoke starts rising from ears as calculations occur), you moved 7 wheelbarrow loads.... solve for x, carry the 1.... it took you 10 minutes per wheelbarrow load? and you live in flat as a pancake texas?!!!! boy, I think a glacier moves faster than that must have been that headwind that slowed your shoveling down

[quote] I go along to identify and haul the bodies back. [quote]

          That's some funny shit.

Excercise has been proven to release endorphins that act just like the high you get from heroine. It's just as easy to get addicted to that high. It's also the reason people continue to do it even when their bodies are falling apart from the exact activity they get that high from.

Me, I hate running just to run. I'd rather have my hair set on fire and have you put it out with a hammer. When I'm tired and sore, I want to look back and see what I accomplished with my sweat.

Can't run, don't like running, it hurts.
That said, I like riding my bicycle for over an hour at a time, keeping my heart rate at 80% of maximum for the majority of the time. So I get why people like running... I just don't get the actual running part.

I 'wog' everyday......combination of walking and jogging........for about
              4-5 miles.

Been doing this for years........have work out routes in every town I stay.
Doesn't matter the temps.........I'm out there.

Just a good way of staying in shape.

I'm an odd one out for a runner. I don't really get a runners high from it. I just like improving myself. You'll never hear me say that long distance road running is fun. It isn't. It's hell warmed over with a side of gatorade and bananas. The thrill is crossing the finish line and realizing that I did something most people can't do, and not because I am naturally gifted as a runner or athlete, born into it, or have more money than the next guy, but instead because I worked hard to get where I am.

Having a resting heart rate at 40 bpm, low blood pressure (I have a family history of heart problems and hypertension), and healthy form are all added bonuses.

When I was lifing heavy weights I would get into a "zone" nothing could phase me, nothing hurt. It was like I was the only person in the gym and it was all about moving that weight and the muscle burn...I cannot describe the high, but it is there. I never did drugs so I cannot compare them...but the rush I get from running on the strip or that feeling you get when you accelerate quickly in a fast car...kinda gives me the same kind of rush.

Ok, more detailed description...... lol My backyard has about 4 feet of drop from South to North.

It wasn't just a pile of dirt sitting there waiting to be shoveled. I had to run an undersized rototiller (the kind with a weedeater motor, about 1ft wide) over the area to dig all the monkey grass and roots up, then use the hoe to make a nice neat pile to shovel from. Fill wheel barrow (it's either an 8 c.f or 10 c.f, dual wheel), repeat 7 times. 8 if you count all the vegetation I raked and hoe'd out before I started. Then I had to run the tiller over it a few more times to completely level it out.
