The new ls small block really can not be counted in this. they just are not much more simular to a original small block chevy as they than a old v8 ford . Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to take out my L98 350 for a 6.0 ls . Shoot they're even counting 4.3 v6's !

        interesting stuff.

the 262 was the smallest, I drove one around (not mine thankfully)..oddly, I do not recall it being in a chevrolet. ..one of those bop swaps, by factory. I think it was a cutlass?
the first vehicle I ever drove was a tow truck with a 283..heavy engine. I liked it.

I am still driving an odd boxer engine, numbered at 378,***. six digits..not even to an original million yet.

imagine more than one hundred times all the liquid 3 main subaru EA82 boxers. that is alot of v8 engines.

I also like they explained they did not invent the v8, and stuck to minimalist approach.

why the 400 is nothing like the 265... they are about as much the same as the ls is to the last gen I and II

its based on the same casting, im pretty sure they share the same heads, intakes, cams too (yes i know you have to drill holes in them for 400's)

The only technical similarity is the 4.40" bore centers.

again they are not any closer to bing the same than the ls is to any gen I the 400 cashing and water jackets are totally different from a 265, that has no oil filter pad,
                            it's night and day.

yeah, and you cant switch intakes or water pumps or distributors . next your gonna say the 350 and the 283 are different engines entirely.
