Would you rather have your Daily Driver or your Toy in the Garage? My DD is a 03 mazda I love it just as much as our washing machine. The toy it is up against is my 89 Mustang. The mustang is nothing special but I would like to fix it up.

I think the friction reducing order makes it easiest for me - the Wife / GF / SO's car goes in the garage, then the uninsured for hail damage car, then the DD.

Because I hate scraping ice off the windshield at 5:30 in the morning what ever I'm driving to work the next day is in the carport. All others are doomed to the outside (though the T-bird is doing well in a car tent test program in the backyard). I'm guessing Raleigh doesn't have the ice issue often. I'd put the mazda in the driveway.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

Very True! Thats why I only have one space (we have 3). #1 Jennifer's DD, #2 1968 Mustang, #3 TBD?Originally posted by Beagle View PostI think the friction reducing order makes it easiest for me - the Wife / GF / SO's car goes in the garage, then the uninsured for hail damage car, then the DD.

Dammit Russell, I've already given you the fix for this! That's not a "garage" - it's a "Shop". Believe me, women can be taught the distinction. Try this:
It's like the difference between your closet, where you park your currently undriven clothes, and the laundry room (even better if they have a sewing room) where you WORK ON your clothes.
The answer is obvious if you've named the structure correctly - the project goes in the "Shop".
That said, I've kept a happy wife for years by making sure I start and warm her car on those days when the windshield is icy.

There will be a few morings with ice / freezing rain, mostly its frost not hard to scrap but still not fun.Originally posted by TheSilverBuick View PostBecause I hate scraping ice off the windshield at 5:30 in the morning what ever I'm driving to work the next day is in the carport. Project inside - as much out of her way as possible - but still accessible to work on.
Get a remote start for the mazda - problem solved. Daily is going to get beat driven daily on the roads anyway - parking inside won't help it much - and - it will keep more slushy stuff off your garage floor. There's always something new to learn.Comment

Also......dollars spent on your toy is not an 'expense' it's an 'investment'
The shoebox resides in the garage with the wife's car.
My DD is my company car......it never sees a garage.Thom

The House has a 2 car attached garage, the Shop currently has space for one vehicle. I get to deside what goes in the shop be it a project, DD, etc. Jennifer's will always be in the garage. The 68 will be in there soon. We desided that if it just sits then we are going to sell it, if we drive and enjoy it we will keep it.Originally posted by DanStokes View PostDammit Russell, I've already given you the fix for this! How does the remote start work with a stick shift? By pass the clutch start, is there a neutal switch on a 5 speed? My normal habbit is to leave it in 1st or R (which ever way I will be going next time I get in the car.) I would hate for it to run into my house or the neighbors.Originally posted by milner351 View PostProject inside - as much out of her way as possible - but still accessible to work on.

Well, this is an easy answer...bigger garage!
I've been dealing with this for many years from the inlaws. They don't get why the Torino doesn't just sit outside now that it's done, and Mel's car gets to be in the garage.
Daily driver, stick outside. Project/toy, inside.
Myself, a real Garagmahal is something I need to build. Not for a ways off yet however.
My daily and my wife's daily sit outside. I'd much rather they be inside, but so goes life.Andrew

Bypass the clutch switch and I think the pros install a neutral safety switch - the stick needs to be in the neutral gate or it won't crank. If you install your own I guess you could live without that but just make darn sure it's in "N" when you leave it. I'll wager you won't screw it up more than once!
And Monk - 10-4 on the "investment" comment! Although my crap is tough to pass off as an investment, the '55 definitely can. ME's really good about that - if I have the $$ in the car account, no questions asked.
