  • A bit of a Christmas miracle for my sister's family happened today.

My nephew has cerebal palsey. He's been part of a test where he was given his own ambilical blood. Jennifer paid a small fortune to store his stem cells all this time. It paid off. Here's a note his teacher sent yesterday to my sister. A Christmas miracle.

    Jennifer,
I looked in his backpack, but I couldn't find the splint. Did you forget to pack it, or am I going crazy? Just wanted to tell you ...that yesterday Xander took 5 steps without any assistive device! He did it 2 times! He was very happy with himself, smiling from ear to ear. I was in front of him on my knees with my arms out to the side should he need help, but was hands off. It was a wonderful moment to witness and I am so proud of how hard he's working. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday!

That's awesome. I'm relatively ignorant on the disease. However, I grew up with a friend who has it. He's successful and enjoys everything he does. He rides BMX, snowboards, plays with cars etc. There's hope out there.

OK, Scott. Now Grandpa Dan has wet eyes. Thank Whomever for the miracles of science. Just because they're science doesn't mean they're not miracles.
